Azhar was born and raised in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India. He went to Christ Church College for schooling followed by an undergraduate degree (BSc) from Bappa Sri Narain Vocational Degree College, Lucknow University.Azhar's academic odyssey began at Aligarh Muslim University, where he immersed himself in the world of biological science. His thirst for knowledge and a desire to make a tangible impact on human health led him to Biotechnology. Recognizing the potential of biotechnology in transforming the landscape of cancer research, Azhar delved into interdisciplinary studies that melded biology with other disciplines like engineering.
Venturing further into his academic pursuits, Azhar honed his skills at the Center for Biotechnology at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
