Kazuaki Wagatsuma received his Ph.D. from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1987. He has been a professor at the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, since 2000. His research interests include analytical science and analytical spectroscopy for material research. He has published 344 scientific papers and contributed to 6 books as a co-author. He won the Nishiyama Memorial Award in 2004 and the Academic Contribution Award in 2014 from the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan.
