But I never stopped reading picture books or doodling, and went on to study children's book illustration at Cambridge School of Art, completing my MA in 2013.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eAbout my work\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI started working with Walker Books on my first picture book, \u003ci\u003eThe Girl with the Parrot on Her Head\u003c\/i\u003e, just after finishing my MA. After that I've created lots of picture books including four books in the Natalie \u0026amp; Alphonse series; \u003ci\u003eGet Real, Mallory; I Like Trains; Hilda and the Runaway Baby,\u003c\/i\u003e and many more. I have also written and illustrated comics for \u003ci\u003eLOAf\u003c\/i\u003e magazine, and my illustrations have appeared on greetings cards,T-shirts, advent calendars and a coffee tricycle. I have taught illustration to adults and teenagers and led lots of children's workshops. I have never had a parrot on my head, but once during a school visit I met two children who had.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eThree things you might not know about me:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1. I built a sailing boat called \u003ci\u003eLoris\u003c\/i\u003e with my dad. We made it mainly from plywood, stuck together with epoxy resin and cable ties.\u003cbr\u003e2. When I was little, some of my favourite picture books were \u003ci\u003e Avocado Baby\u003c\/i\u003e by John Burningham, \u003ci\u003eAngelo\u003c\/i\u003e by Quentin Blake, \u003ci\u003eAcorns and Stew \u003c\/i\u003eby Ruth Orbach, and \u003ci\u003eMr Rabbit and the Lovely Present\u003c\/i\u003e by Charlotte Zolotow \u0026amp; Maurice Sendak. My favourite audiobook was Russell Hoban's \u003ci\u003eA Bargain for Frances\u003c\/i\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e3.
