He began writing poetry and short stories in his early 20s, but it was his first novel, \u003ci\u003eCrome Yellow\u003c\/i\u003e (1921), which established his literary reputation. This was swiftly followed by \u003ci\u003eAntic Hay\u003c\/i\u003e (1923), \u003ci\u003eThose Barren Leaves\u003c\/i\u003e (1925) and \u003ci\u003ePoint Counter Point\u003c\/i\u003e (1928) - bright, brilliant satires in which Huxley wittily but ruthlessly passed judgement on the shortcomings of contemporary society.
