His searing essay collections \u003ci\u003eNotes of a Native Son \u003c\/i\u003e(1955) and \u003ci\u003eNobody Knows My Name \u003c\/i\u003e(1961) contain many of the works that made him an influential figure in the Civil Rights Movement. Baldwin published several other collections of non-fiction, including \u003ci\u003eThe Fire Next Time \u003c\/i\u003e(1963) and \u003ci\u003eNo Name in the Street \u003c\/i\u003e(1972).
