His searing essay collections \u003ci\u003eNotes of a Native Son \u003c\/i\u003e(1955) and \u003ci\u003eNobody Knows My Name \u003c\/i\u003e(1961) contain many of the works that made him an influential figure in the Civil Rights Movement.
