Careers with Impact (Philipp Gramlich)

Do you want to leave a positive legacy in your working life but don't know where to start? Or do you have concerns that being outspoken or swimming against the tide might affect your career, social contacts or mental wellbeing? Careers With Impact shows that you can combine doing good with building a fulfilling career. Drawing on 17 interviews, Philipp Gramlich explores the many ways people can use their working lives to drive change. You can choose an organisation that shares your goals, change your employer's approach from within, start your own initiative, or combine paid work with a cause you care about. The book also takes an honest look at setbacks, resistance, and the risk of burnout. There is no single perfect path. This book will help you find an approach that suits your skills, values, and life. Whether you care about the climate, social justice, democracy or another cause, this book can guide you in turning a concern into lasting action without losing sight of your own future.

Philipp Gramlich, a research chemist by training, has a patchwork career as co-founder of a company and an ecological foundation. He helps scientists advance their careers and advocates for climate policy, drawing on his background and expertise in science communication.
