This is the second volume edited by leading expert Prof. Yoshiki Chujo on the evolving topic of conjugated polymer synthesis. Since publication of the first volume in 2010, new methodologies have been developed and the materials from such conjugated polymers are now crucially important in varied electrical, optical, and magnetic applications. This new volume summarizes major developments in the synthesis of new conjugated polymers, novel methodologies for the preparation of conjugated polymers, and inorganic-elements containing mainchain-type conjugated polymers. Topics covered include:
- Living conjugated polymers
- Cyclophane conjugated polymers
- P- and As-containing conjugated polymers
- Low bandgap conjugated polymers
- 3-D and helical conjugated polymers
- Conjugated polymers for organic solar cells and organic electronic devices

Keywords: Conjugated polymers, transition metal catalysis, living polymerization, polycondensation, optical materials, electrical
materials, magnetic materials, biomedical materials

Autorenportrait

Yoshiki Chujo, Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University, Japan Yoshiki Chujo completed his Ph.D. at Kyoto University in 1980 and then joined Nagoya University as an Assistant Professor in 1981. In 1986, he returned to Kyoto University as a Lecturer, and was promoted as a Professor of Polymer Chemistry there since 1994. His research interests focus on polymer synthesis, inorganic polymers, and polymeric hybrid materials. Prof. Chujo has been working as a Project Leader of the MEXT Scientific Research on Innovative Areas ?New Polymeric Materials Based on Element-Blocks?, Japan during 2012-2017. He retired from Kyoto University in 2018, and now is a Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University, together with a Guest Professor of Ritsumeikan University, Japan. Prof. Chujo has received the purple ribbon medal from the Emperor of Japan in recognition of his academic accomplishments.
