»Fundamental Rights and Private Law - The Emergence of Constitutional Private Law«: This thesis explores the emergence of a new layer of private law, which mainly stems from the case law of constitutional courts. It can be referred to as 'constitutional private law'. While claiming that they are merely interpretating the constitution, constitutional courts effectively create and modify legal positions conferred on parties by private law. Their decisions can therefore be regarded as a source of private law. The thesis examines the extent to which constitutional private law can be integrated into the existing private law system.

Julius Azzola studied law at the University of Constance. After completing his 1st state examination, he worked as a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Michael Stürner, M. Jur. (Oxford), where he also obtained his doctorate. From August 2021 to July 2022, he completed an LL.M. degree at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. He then completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe with stages in Constance, Stuttgart and Munich. He currently works as a lawyer in a corporate boutique law firm.
