Benjamin Schmerker studied law at Philipps-University Marburg and Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. After graduating from university in spring 2021 he began to write his doctorial dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Elke Gurlit. Until September 2023 he also worked at her chair as a research assistant. Since November 2023 he is a legal trainee at the OLG Koblenz.
