»The Best Interests of the Child in Reproductive Medicine Law. A Constitutional Analysis of the Prohibition of Heterologous Egg Donation, Surrogacy and Postmortem Fertilization«: The thesis provides a comprehensive, particularly constitutional law doctrinal analysis of the concept of the child's best interests in the context of german reproductive medicine law. It uses the prohibitions on heterologous egg donation, surrogacy and post-mortem fertilization as examples. Additionally, the work highlights the actual impacts of these prohibitions, identifies the need for reform and offers proposals for new regulations.

After studying law at the University of Bayreuth, Katharina Auer worked there from March 2021 to March 2023 as a research assistant at the Chair of Public Law, Social Economic and Health Law (Prof. Dr. Stephan Rixen). From April 2023 to September 2024, she worked at the Chair of Public law, commercial administrative law, sustainability and technology law (Prof. Dr. Christoph Krönke). Her dissertation was accepted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Cologne in 2023. Since the Winter Semester 2024/2025 she is teaching Health Law at the University of Bayreuth as a lecturer.
