Author Stefan Gronert traces the complex strategies of appropriating and reinterpreting famous works of art which Jeff Wall's pictures render in a manner that seems so timelessly contemporary.

Stefan Gronert, born in 1964, is curator for contemporary art at the Kunstmuseum Bonn and teaches art history at the University of Bonn. He is the author of numerous books and essays on classic, modern, and contemporary art, such as Schirmer/Mosel publication The Düsseldorf School of Photography (2007).
