Spectra of Culture and Arts Education (Tanja Klepacki)

This volume engages with international and global perspectives on Culture and Arts Education as well as the relevance of cultural transformation dynamics and related challenges in this field. It reflects the outcome of an international ERASMUS+ BIP Summer School, bringing together nearly 60 students and researchers from across Europe and around the world. Featuring both emerging and established researchers, the book ranges from theoretical perspectives to practical explorations, addressing issues such as intangible cultural heritage, post- and decolonial theory, epistemic violence, the power of narratives and participatory research. In light of the 2024 UNESCO World Conference on Culture and Arts Education, a considerable number of contributions critically engage with relevant UNESCO documents and frameworks and advocate for a shift beyond Western- and Eurocentric paradigms. Against this background, this volume offers a stimulating and invigorating read for students, practitioners and researchers from the domain of Culture and Arts Education and beyond.

Dr. Tanja Klepacki studierte Pädagogik, Psychologie sowie Neuere und Neuste Geschichte. Sie ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Pädagogik mit dem Schwerpunkt Kultur, ästhetische Bildung und Erziehung der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) sowie Leiterin der Geschäftsstelle der Akademie für Schultheater und performative Bildung an der FAU. Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte liegen insbesondere in der Bereichen Kulturpädagogik, Ästhetische Bildung, Theatrale Bildung und Museumspädagogik. PD Dr. Leopold Klepacki works as a senior-researcher at the Chair of Pedagogy with a Focus on Culture and Aesthetic Education at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. Currently he works on theories of aesthetic education in contexts of cultural transformations and on the relation between processes of passing on cultural traditions and processes of cultural transformation.
